Switch or Stay in one company is really a question

Everyone here has the question on is Switch really better or continuing in one company for a long time a good option?

Yes, Most of us will say that Switch is far more better than to stay in a particular organisation for a long time. But there are always 2 sides of the coin.

Before making any decision please think twice no matter what people think but what our heart and mind thoughts do matter.

Many times I have heard people discussing the topic a different way. The perspective here might be the same but opinions vary. And what’s the main perspective?

Salary……..

Yes. It’s important but we have to think on a overall basis. Can this be done by staying in the same company? Is it possible?

Well It depends !!!!!!

Surely no company will ever provide a 100 % increment though investing 4 years in it. But yes, we can get around 50 % –60 % for 4 years. Just imagine a guy who have been trying so hard for a new position , a new role, More increment and failed doing so….

It’s really disappointing.

But in case, during notice period when company requests to stay back it’s obvious that an individual will surely ask for an hike.

But how much depends on the Performance, ability, Work management , discipline etc…

Well In this article we will just discuss on such topic which really needs more attention and be taken care in near future on how Compensation structure should be depending on the employee’s worth to prove the hike.

And

Is it mandatory to switch the organisation or continue in the same one.

So Let’s begin…..

  1. Understanding the company’s strategy to hire employee.

There are 2 types of hiring happening in the organisation

a) Freshers

b) Experienced

So let’s begin with freshers:-

a) Freshers

Now freshers are hired when an organisation is looking over a role where the respective candidate fits in that position as per the compensation structure. As a fresher (not applicable to IIT’s and other huge institutes) if a small scale organisation is in a need of a position of a fresher, the strength and the project cost is been calculated.

On the basis of the overall cost of the project, companies are trying to divide the company between 2 parts. One they provide salary to the newly hired and the remaining amount is kept with the company.

For example, The overall cost of the project is Rs.100000/- monthly. then the monthly salary deposited in the employee’s account is Rs.20000/- the rest 80000/- will be company’s share.

Now you all might be thinking this is a major share company is taking towards self. Well this is the strategy. Company hire those who are capable to fit in the role. They can hire an experienced too but instead of loosing out more they continue to hire a fresher.

In many organisation, the issue is not that the freshers are provided a Rs.20 K pay a month. But the strategy how company hires them. They knew if we hire a experienced guy, company will not be able to put its hold over a huge majority sum of money.

What In case the newly hired hit the bottom and performs low. Yes, they then try to hire another one with the same package in terms of 6 months or 1 year experience.

b) Experienced

Experienced are those who are really given a handsome package when switching from one organisation to another. A total experience of 3 years or more are more advantageous if this is there 3 rd organisation. During pandemic there was “The Great resignation” happening throughout the globe.

As the term indicates, “The Great resignation” meaning the employees all the world are desperate to resign from the current organisation in a much needed hike into another one.

Well many of us might be part of this. But during the Corona period it 2020 and beginning it was observed that major organisations were shutting down if IT industry is exempted.

This took a big frustration on many. Even IT industries weren’t in a mood to provide a good hike for the existing employees. Addition to that there was no Annual appraisal taking place resulting to depression.

This was considered as a golden opportunity for everyone during the re-opening of all the offices post 6 months 1st phase of pandemic. There was resignation after resignation. Eventually company had no option but to retain the one’s who are really the backbone of them.

Employees resigned and the salary hike was crossing almost 100 % for not few but many of them.

Now the point comes the hiring strategy of the company when they hire an experienced resource. Let’s take an example if an IT company is recruiting an experienced of 3 year of Automation QA engineer. The requirements are like:-

  1. Should be able to perform Java, Python scripting, Maven, Selenium.
  2. SQL databases.
  3. UI path is an added advantage.
  4. Javascript, C, HTML etc
  5. Good communication skills

If we look over it, we might observe that these all skills might not be implemented by the candidate if gets hired. An automation engineer will look over what exactly needs to be automated. Organisation knows in case the project requirements increases or if the candidate is enough to multi-task himself/herself in many languages, it will be an added advantage.

This does not applies to all the organisation. The QA engineer is given to work on any 1 or 2 programming languages at a time since automating the current one will require ample amount of time.

Now in both the scenarios we have observed on how an organisation changes its strategy to hire a candidate.

Now the question comes What to do ?

Stay where we are or Leave?

See According to me if anyone asks what should be the next step. I would suggest to leave the organisation where you have literally spent more than 2 or 3 years and thinking of a long incremental growth.

It’s not I am providing a general answer on this. But its a fact right now. Technology is reaching at it’s peak. Time is just passing by. No one is just thinking of anything else but Growth with huge compensation.

The other reason is if we stay in one organisation for a very long time it might really obsolete us and make us dull.

I have seen many taking a hike of 100% — 120 % on their current CTC.

Who will reject such a golden opportunity ?

What if we stay in the same Organisation?

If we take out the history of some few months back before the end of the year 2021, it will let us know that only 40%–45% hike was provided to those who got retained. A maximum of 50 % or plus. Besides this, an employee has to work on the same task daily.

Hope you have enjoyed the article…….
